Goals and Outcome
The main goals of the symposium are:
- Raise the issues related to challenges of the convergence of different sciences and technologies for decision makers both in the
public and private sector;
- Mobilise a large research community focusing on the interdisciplinarity as a key issue for the future;
- Define a long-term road map of the research scenario that deserves new models and new skills to considerably enhance the state of the art;
- State the symmetry and the peer-to-peer role of the sciences that are collaborating towards new research frontiers;
- Discuss the impact that the convergence of different research areas can have with respect to social concerns, environment protection,
health-care, security, economical development, etc..
The main outcomes of the symposium will be:
- bringing together representatives of all the subjects needed to establish good practices in research activities: decision makers,
funding agencies, industries, researchers;
- a summary of all the presentations and panel discussions;
- a collection of short position statements from all the participants that will be willing to produce one;
- a resume document based on the results of the debates with recommendations of disseminating this practice widely;
- a divulgative document which would make the issues raised available and acceptable by a large community of non experts.
