Basic information
Rovereto (34,000 residents) is the third biggest town of the combined Trentino Alto Adige/Sudtirol Region.
The Region is divided into two provinces, with two main towns: Trento (100,000 residents - capital of the Trentino Province - 465,000 people) and Bolzano (capital of the Alto-Adige or Sudtirol Province). Rovereto is situated about 25 kms south of the city of Trento and 85 kms south of Bolzano.
Rovereto lies just 20 kms from Lake Garda, 60 kms north from Verona, about 250 kms from Milan and Venice. The Trentino Alto Adige/Sudtirol region is at the border with Austria, in fact it was part of the Austro Hungarian empire till 1918 when the Italians claimed this territory at the end of World War I. The Region has enjoyed a degree of political autonomy since medieval times and has special status compared with other Italian regions.

Everything in Rovereto is within walking distance. Your hotels and the train station are from 5 to 10 minutes walk from the Conference venue. (see maps attached: Hotels - Conference venue)
